Dr. Howard W. Smith is expected to be named as the acting superintendent of schools by the White Plains Board of Education during a meeting Monday evening. Smith retired in 2013 as superintendent in Sleepy Hollow after 12 years.

Burglary Suspects From Sleepy Hollow Nabbed In $30K Safe Heist

Police arrested a pair of Sleepy Hollow men on Wednesday for stealing more than $30,000 in cash and jewelry during a home invasion break-in last month. The pair are accused of breaking into a single-family home in the Spiro Park section of Irvington on Aug. 15 and stealing a safe containing the cash and jewelry "under the cover of darkness," police said in a press release.

Sleepy Hollow teen gets 20 years for fatal stabbing

Berinzon Moronta, 17, was sentenced today in White Plains County Court for the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Tahj Robinson in July 2015. Investigators say Moronta, along with several others, went to Barnhart Park in October 2015 looking for Robinson.

Officials: Heating oil accidentally spilled into Hudson River

The Westchester County Police Marine Unit and several local fire departments were on the scene of an oil spill Tuesday on the Hudson River. Investigators say an estimated 500 to 700 gallons of heating oil had been accidentally spilled at the Kendal on Hudson retirement complex on North Broadway in Sleepy Hollow by a vendor who overfilled a heating oil tank.

Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley's recent sold-out "Golf for Wishes"

More than 125 supporters of Make-A-WishA Hudson Valley teed off recently at the sold-out "Golf for Wishes" fundraiser at the historic Sleepy Hollow Country Club to help grant the wishes of more than 150 local kids with life-threatening medical conditions. "Golf for Wishes" is one of four major signature events that the non-profit is presenting during its 30th anniversary celebration.
