Bill Irwin Goes Hudson Valley Gothic

On a recent morning, the actor Bill Irwin took a Metro-North train to Irvington, New York, on ghostly business. His destination was Sunnyside, the former home of Washington Irving, the nineteenth-century trickster, satirist, and author of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle," who once described the Hudson Valley as "under the sway of some witching power, that holds a spell over the minds of the good people, causing them to walk in a continual reverie."
